Fresh off the back of his recent singles Curtain Call and Wake Up, Australian producer 44 Ardent returns with another captivating track, Hold On (Forever) — the latest in a steady flow of new music he’ll be unveiling over the coming months.
Blending elements of dance, house, and UKG, 44 Ardent crafts a sound that feels both expansive and intimate, taking cues from influences like Caribou, Jamie xx, and Tourist. At its core, Hold On (Forever) is driven by a towering, emotional drop — a sonic signature the producer traces back to his formative years during the SoundCloud era.
“I’ve always loved a big, emotional, wall-of-sound drop with lots of elements and complexity,” he explains. “Back then, people would literally scan the waveform and skip straight to the drop, so artists put a lot of energy into making that first moment hit hard. These days, it feels like hooks at the very start are more important, but for me, old habits die hard.”
Lyrically, the track carries a deeper reflection. With lines like ‘cold iron, hot brand’, 44 Ardent explores the sting of human interactions:
“It’s about how words can be painful. At the time I was thinking about how needlessly nasty humans can be to one another.”
The result is a release that balances euphoric energy with raw emotion, a hallmark of 44 Ardent’s ever-evolving sound.
