Hotel Decor – ‘All The Rage’

‘All The Rage’ is the debut single from Hotel Decor, a new project by Canadian artist Csaba Laszlo, who over the few years has been making music under the moniker NVY, and it’s also the latest release for Mammal Sounds Records.

Csaba is excited to be launching the new project this week with his first single ‘All The Rage’, which is also just the first preview of a four-track ep that he has been working on called “Could It Take Me Any Longer”.

Csaba blends elements of alternative indie/electro/dream pop genres to create a sound that could be likened to a mix between Metronomy, Toro Y Moi and Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs (T.E.E.D).

As Csaba explains below, the initial idea for ‘All The Rage’ started over a year ago but at that time he never really intended to have any vocals on it. With the theme of the song coming from a place of boredom and isolation, he still wanted to make something that was very catchy but also a bit wonky…

“I had the instrumental for this track just sitting on my hard drive for almost a year and originally the track wasn’t even supposed to have my vocals on it. I had previously written a version with vocals which I demoed for some people at this west Canadian music event in the Yukon back in 2019, but I ended up scrapping that version because I felt like my writing and confidence with vocals was more developed since the previous time I visited the track.

Stylistically I wanted to make something definitely pretty wonky and catchy. The theme of the song kind of came about subconsciously. I ended up freestyling a lot of the vocals and just going with the flow of whatever was coming out while I was tracking. I think I must have been feeling pretty boxed in and kind of bored with my circumstances as that’s what the song ended up being about.” – Hotel Decor

‘All The Rage’ is available everywhere now via Mammal Sounds Records, and stay tuned over the coming weeks for a Charlie Sirovyak & Pavel Romano (Dual Sense) directed music video.
