Maver is an Australian artist who makes an intriguing blend of alternative pop music with charismatic indie-dance elements, resulting in a sound that can be likened to a mix between BAYNK, Biig Piig and Whethan.

Back in May he gave us an exceptional single called ‘Lay Down’, which also came with promise of a whole-new ep titled “Spirals” headed our way soon.

Maver is excited to announce that ep is set for release in October, and between now and then we can expect two more album teasers, which he is kicking-off this week with the intoxicating sounds of new single ‘Lazy’, featuring the rising and wonderfully talented Sydney artist jnr. helping out on vocal duties.

“As artists, burnout from constant work and forced creativity is all too common, making a day off feel like a forbidden luxury. ‘Lazy’ offers a fantasy where you can say “fuck today” without any social consequences and simply be.

Jnr. and I have been writing together for a few years now after meeting on a Covid online writing camp. Since moving to Sydney, we’ve been able to work together in person, which has greatly boosted our creative process. This song for example, came together incredibly quickly. We almost completed the whole song in just one day. We had begun talking about how we were in similar situations and how overworking yourself is way too easy to do, especially if you’re a creative at the moment, and that just became the theme of the song.” ~ Maver

As you can easily guess by the title, this song is about taking it easy, taking some time out to just be you, and basically just doing nothing at all. This is something we all struggle with these days, but it is so important for us to remember. Sometimes we need to stop focusing on the end goals and just live in the moment for while…

“‘Lazy’ is a tribute to the art of relaxation and the beauty of doing nothing. It’s about disconnecting from the world’s demands and finding solace with your favourite people. Inspired by the burnout from relentless work and the pressure to always be productive, ‘Lazy’ envisions a world where taking it easy and enjoying the moment with people you care about is celebrated.” ~ Maver

“We wanted ‘Lazy’ to feel carefree laid-back just like the sentiment of the song. The song dwells in the comfort of doing nothing, being with the people you love and blocking out the world. I think I had definitely felt burnt out from constant work and having to sometimes force creativity, and I feel sometimes as artists, having a day off is a dirty word. This song feels a little like a fantasy where the social consequences of saying “fuck today” don’t exist and you can just be.” ~ jnr.
