South Korean-Australian artist Munan is giving us another glimpse into his upcoming EP this week with his latest single, ‘Naked’— a vibrant indie/psychedelic-rock track that perfectly showcases his intricate musicianship and playful songwriting.
Built on a foundation of groovy basslines and ’90s R&B-inspired drums, ‘Naked’ initially sets a sultry and romantic tone. However, the song takes an unexpected twist as Munan’s lyrics explore themes of insecurity, exposure, and self-doubt, ultimately confronting the feeling of being “naked” on the internet.
“The term ‘naked’ in this song represents something I want to keep hidden from the public. We all have insecurities, and when they’re exposed, it can impact us in different ways. Some people weaponize them, while others learn to embrace them—but many withdraw, becoming more isolated.” ~ Munan
The track was crafted through Munan’s experimentation with old-school hip-hop drum loops, later adding a bass groove that became the song’s backbone. With the melody and lyrics already in mind, he then layered guitars that complement the vocals, bringing the track’s emotional depth to life.
‘Naked’ is available everywhere now.
