ZUSO is the brainchild of Australian producer Gabriel Cuenca, who is carving out a distinct sound in the world of progressive and atmospheric house. Blending elements reminiscent of RÜFÜS DU SOL, Lane 8, and Flume, his music offers an immersive journey through rich melodies and expansive soundscapes.
Gabriel’s passion for music ignited at an early age. At just seven years old, he began learning piano through the Suzuki method, unaware of the electronic music world that would later captivate him. That all changed in high school when he discovered Flume’s self-titled 2012 debut album—an experience that sparked a deep curiosity and eventual dive into music production.
By 2019, Gabriel had released his first single, “Skies,” officially marking the launch of the ZUSO project. He pursued formal studies in music production, refining his craft while exploring a wide range of styles and influences. However, it was during the COVID lockdowns that his signature sound truly began to take shape.
“That period really solidified my artistic direction. I found myself drawn to themes of escapism, crafting melodic soundscapes that helped me—and hopefully others—find solace amidst the chaos. That inspiration led to my first EP, ‘Lost In Time,’ which I see as a defining moment for both my music and my brand.” – Gabriel Cuenca
Fast forward to today, and ZUSO has built an impressive catalog, releasing two EPs—”Skies” and “Lost In Time”—alongside a collection of singles. He also collaborated with Sweat It Out’s sister imprint, LOVE CLVB, on three standalone tracks: “Hold Me,” “In The Dark,” and “High Above,” the latter featuring Melbourne-born, Los Angeles-based vocalist Cleopold.
These releases have garnered widespread acclaim from fans and curators alike, paving the way for his next chapter. With a new EP slated for release in August 2025, ZUSO has already teased what’s to come with “Time” and “Erase You” (feat. Matilda Pearl)—and with more exciting collaborations on the horizon, ZUSO’s journey is only just beginning.
